Last Saturday we were invited to dinner at my Sister in-law Bella and her fiancé’s house for dinner.
Bella recently moved back to Australia after 15 years of living in the Greek islands and she regularly craves simple, fresh, Greek dishes from her previous home.
I was in a crafty mood and I decided to make her one of my homemade gifts. I had given them a beautiful bunch of gift wrapped eggs last time so I needed to think of something new…
My herb garden has really burst into life over the past few weeks and as coincidence would have it the Greek Oregano was in need of a trim.
I decided to make her a bunch of Greek Oregano with a recipe for Mediterranean Oregano Chicken. I thought this would make a great gift and maybe stir up some Greek cooking inspiration… well her fiances hoping!
The minute she saw the bunch of Oregano she squealed “Where did you get this get this? We use this all the time in Greece!” It was better than a bunch of flowers and is the gift that will keep on giving.
This is a really fun and simple gift to make, here are the instructions…
Bunch of Herbs
1. Cut a bunch of herbs fresh from the garden.
2. Wrap in baking paper and tie up with string or some recycled ribbon.
3. Find a corresponding recipe and print out onto paper.
4. Mount onto some card or decorate to compliment the bunch of herbs.
Voila, an alternative to your usual flowers and a card!
